Clinton St. btw Rivington and Stanton St.

Speakeasy located through above/through the back of Barramundi, pretty easy to get into before 9, good luck afterwards.  Basically someone’s living room with a bar, tables spaced around for groups, good amount of PDA going on.  Drinks are all cocktails, ~$12 on average for a drink, taste alright.

Warren St. btw Broadway and Church St.

It’s a…bar?  I mean, the bar is the focal point, no one was eating here…yeah, a bar…I guess, and by no means a club.  Maybe the switch happens after 8 PM?.  The exterior of the bar is the flashiest part, small space inside, not really crowded, and mostly an older crowd with a few young B&T’s who accidentally stumble in but feel guilty about doing an immediate turnaround.  Good happy hour, no taps, bottles taste fine.

5th Ave. and 27th St.

I was always extremely hesitant of this place, and I was only partially justified.  The trick is to reserve a table, because if you don’t, it just gets ridiculous.  The view rocks from this rooftop bar, the service is hit or miss (hit looks-wise, miss service-wise) at only very slightly above average prices.  The downsides?  If you don’t get a table, you’re cramped in a very small aisle, cramped around the upstairs bar, or worst of all, forced to go downstairs to the lower bar, which resembles a porn I’ve seen before, and you get to deal with the overly annoying bouncers and staff.

Orchard St. btw Houston and Stanton St.

Every time I’m in here there’s never anyone in the back on the “dance floor” though the music is great.  On the other hand, the rest of the bar is a little lame, filled with the people who think they’re above the dancing and they take up all of the space around the bar, though thankfully you can just push your way past and have a good time.  Regular beer, tastes fine, and costs average prices.

Avenue A and 2nd St.

One of my favorite places to go in the city.  It still hasn’t been completely usurped by the hipster crowd, though it’s getting there, which makes it enjoyable.  The drinks are your average price, taste fine, there’s plenty of space, especially on the top floor, and the staff is friendly.
